SUNDAY SERVICE

WORKER OR WORSHIPPER

The Church is full of workers but where are the worshippers?  God is not looking for workers. God desires worshippers, those who worship Him in spirit and in truth.  It is very difficult to make worshippers out of workers.  Worship and the love of God should be our number one priority as christian. (Read: John 4:23-24, 1 Cor. 3:11-15)

Another word for motive is ‘spirit’.  Any service rendered with the wrong motive is described in the bible as hay, stubble, wood waiting to be devoured by fire.  We all should be willing to work for the Lord but it is a matter of grace on God’s part and our work must proceed from the spirit of love for God.  Jesus said “Peter, do you love me”? Jesus was telling him to remove his eyes from self, in other words, he should carry his cross and follow Christ. The emptiest people on earth are those who are full of self.

Until we have learnt the meaning and delight of worshipping God, we must not be concerned about working for God.  God will not mark your script according to your scheme but according to his scheme.  A worshipper can walk with eternal quality in his work but a worker who does not worship is only stacking up wood, hay and stubble for when God’s holy fire will fall.  Rev. 4:10-11.  We are created for His pleasure, to worship Him.  A life void of worship is a purposeless life.  Anyone who is bored and turned off by worship is not ready for heaven.

God calls us to worship but in many instances we are in entertainment.  Worship is not entertainment, it is not what you do but who you are.  You cannot be a good worker if you are not a good worshipper.  “Outside of politics, there is no other field of human activity that has more works and fewer deeds, more wind and less rain than what you have in the Church today”.

The beautiful part of worship is that it prepares you and enables you zero in on what you have to do for God.

Every opportunity to serve God is an opportunity to send gold, silver and precious stone to heaven.  What are you sending to heaven?

Worship means “worth-ship” – placement of value.  How much value do you place on God?  You must have the fear of God.  Wrong interpretation of grace is one of the reasons why many don’t place enough value on God.  True grace prepares you for heaven; it makes you a better worshipper.
